Packing: Equator to the Bottom of the World

When I squeeze my life in to a backpack, this is where I start.If you are going somewhere extremely cold for an extended amount of time, you are going to need to add a better jacket and shoes. Otherwise, I survived with just this for 3 months trekking from colombia down to the end of the world in Argentina:

  • quick dry pant
  • base layer pant
  • walking pant (jeans)
  • 2 base layer long sleeves
  • Fleece
  • Rain proof jacket
  • 2 t-shirts
  • 4 tank tops
  • 2 bathing suits
  • 2 sport shorts, 1 active short, 1 walking
  • dress
  • towel
  • 3 pairs of socks
  • sunnies
  • beanie/hat
  • gloves
  • scarf
  • 11 pairs of underwear
  • 3 bras – 2 active, 1 reg
  • 4 shoes:
    • hiking/running shoes
    • TOMS (closed-toe shoe thats not a whole hiking boot)
    • rainbows (fav walking shoe)
    • Havianas (rubber sandals)
  • sleeping bag
  • dry stuff bags
  • satchel purse with zipper
  • day bag/backpack
  • padlock
  • camera bag
    • Camera(s)- to each their own. Weapons of choice: Canon & GoPro
    • computer/smartphone
    • chargers
    • plug adapters
  • visa info
  • bowl and fork
  • headlamp
  • pens, yes, you will lose at least 2
  • bandaids & first aid, duct tape
  • Rx pills, and lots of pills related to bowel movements
  • toiletries (believe it or not, they have this stuff EVERYWHERE you go..unless you are in the wilderness for 6+ months)
    • deoderant
    • Shampoo (& conditioner), soap
    • toothbrush & paste
  • detergent in small bottle (if you don’t want to pay someone to wash your clothes)
  • sunscreen, aloe, 95% deet
